Porter turns 5!

May 28, 2017May 28, 2017 ~ ashalivingstone ~ 1 Comment

On Thursday we celebrated Porter's 5th birthday. We woke up to have our traditional birthday waffles (waffles with chocolate chips or sprinkles in them) and opened presents right away. We were so lucky that Porter's birthday coincided with John's days off, it was extra special to have daddy at home with us on a weekday. … Continue reading Porter turns 5!

Porter’s birth story

May 26, 2017 ~ ashalivingstone ~ 1 Comment

Today Porter turned 5 years old (pictures and birthday post coming in the next few days) and I have big feelings about this day. For one thing, I have a 5 year old! How did this even happen?!?!? Surely I can't be old enough and grown up enough to have a 5 year old. I … Continue reading Porter’s birth story

My Thrive List

May 16, 2017 ~ ashalivingstone ~ 1 Comment

A long time ago I was reading an article somewhere on the web (which for the life of me I cannot find) about thriving vs. surviving. The author was talking about what she needed to take her life to the next level, to move from surviving to truly thriving. Although this was a few years … Continue reading My Thrive List

Life lately

May 11, 2017 ~ ashalivingstone ~ Leave a comment

I'm starting a new series of posts, which I'm calling 'life lately'. It will kind of be a catch-all for any of the things going on in our lives that don't get their own post like miscellaneous photos and general life updates.  So here are some things that have been making up our life lately. … Continue reading Life lately

This has been a good reading month for me. I read 3 books and listened to 4 audio books. Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist Loved it. Loved it so much I wish that I owned a copy. I really like the way she writes, its so personable. I did relate to some chapters of this … Continue reading April Reads

Of all the toys we have, these marbles are the ones he plays with the most often. He sorts them by color, counts them, lines them up, puts them in stacking cups, and then smashes them all together and does it over again. I love that these simple marbles keep him happy and occupied for so long!
I’m trying to embrace where I live and find joy in eternal winter. At least it’s pretty? At least the temperatures are more mild? 🤷🏼‍♀️ But seriously, sometimes I wonder: why do we still live here?!
While reading our space book this morning my 5 year old asks: “Mom, what happens in the middle of a black hole? Where does everything go?”😳 Love that curious little mind of his, but he sure keeps me on my toes!
Somebody in our house is a little bit obsessed with volcanoes. 🌋 And saying he’s a little obsessed is an understatement! 😂 Porter lives and breathes volcanoes (and ninjas) all day long.
